Privacy

Short version:calqcomp does not collect personal information. Calculations run in your browser; nothing about your inputs is sent to a server. The only data stored is what you explicitly save to your browser (the "Saved scenarios" feature), and that lives only on your device.

What we don't collect

  • Your loan inputs — they stay in your browser and are dropped when you navigate away or refresh.
  • Your name, email, or any identifier. There is no login and no signup, so we have no way to associate your visits with who you are.
  • Cookies. We set none. The Site works without any client-side persistence except the localStorage used for the Saved scenarios feature.
  • Any data over the wire. The Tools run as pure-client JavaScript; the server only sees the page request, not the inputs.

What runs through third parties

Pages are served through Cloudflare's CDN. Cloudflare processes standard request metadata (IP, user agent, request URL) for security and performance: rate limiting bad actors, mitigating DDoS, and serving the response from the nearest edge. Cloudflare's handling of that data is governed by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Cloudflare does not see or store the contents of the Tools (they are bundled JavaScript that runs in your browser).

The site's hosting runs on a single small container on a VPS in a single region. Container logs are kept for debugging; they include the request URL and the request method, not the request body (the Tools don't send request bodies).

Analytics

The site is currently deployed without analytics. If aggregate traffic measurement is added later, we will use Plausible Analytics or Cloudflare Web Analytics — both of which count page views without cookies, IP storage, or cross-site tracking. The About page will be updated to reflect the change before any script is added.

Advertising

The site does not currently display advertising. When advertising is added (Google AdSense or equivalent), the following will apply:

  • AdSense uses cookies and may use web beacons (small transparent graphic images) to collect information in the course of ads being served. The information collected may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps of your visits.
  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Opting out:

  • Personalized ads: visit Google Ad Settings to opt out of personalized advertising.
  • Third-party cookies: visit aboutads.info/choices to opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for behavioral advertising.
  • EU / UK users: Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You may also use Google's partner data disclosure page to understand how Google uses data from partner sites.

Saved scenarios

The "Saved scenarios" feature stores up to 5 named scenarios per tool in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it. The data is not transmitted to us, to Cloudflare, or to any third party.

Saved scenarios are populated by deliberate user action (clicking "Save"). The Site does not auto-save, does not write to localStorage on page load, and does not read from localStorage except in the scenarios panel.

Shareable URLs

Each tool's URL carries the inputs as query parameters (e.g. ?amount=200000&rate=6.5&term=30). Sending that URL to someone shares the inputs with that person. The URL is not recorded by us, but it is by anyone you send it to (their email client, their browser history, their web analytics if any).

If you have a sensitive input (an actual outstanding loan balance, for example) and you do not want that number on a server, do not share the URL. Inputs do not leave your device unless you put them there.

Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the Site, please contact us and we'll address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date below reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be reflected in a clear notice on the homepage; continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
